Dear Friends,

Let's turn the page on this summer of power outages, flooded basements and bickering politicians. Instead, welcome the earth tones, plums, raspberries and ranges of grays that help signal fall, and the cool, dry weather ahead.

The exciting news is that there is no single theme to the season - rather there is an invitation to mix things together you may never have thought about. Stripes and prints, plaids and tartans, sweaters and fur, paper-thin leather dresses and lace, long skirts and high slits.

As you enter into the new season, stretch your mind and your wardrobe to find new combinations. Some of you may be at the stage in life where you've heard it said that the Mother of the Groom has three responsibilities: Show Up, Shut Up and Wear Beige. We encourage you to ignore this advice at all cost (as we both recently did.) This season, wear colors and fabrics to capture attention. (Of course, if you really are the Mother of the Groom or Bride, we'll help you find an exciting fashion look you can call your own.)

Enjoy the fun as you scroll through the next several pages to see a sampling of the wonderful looks we have assembled for you. Please come in and let us help you create a unique fashion statement that will make your personality come alive.

We appreciate you and thank you for your business,

With Franco Moschino
During his short, creative life, Franco Moschino earned the title "the Bad Boy of Fashion." He joined the fashion world as an artist, trained in Milan, and was hired by Gianni Versace in 1977. When he launched his own line in 1982, his provocative, irreverent style was intended to poke fun at haute couture designers. Some examples:
  • the polka dot Minnie Mouse dress
  • the dress with plastic fried eggs at the hemline
  • plug-socket drop earrings
  • bodices made out of safety pins
  • silk shirt printed with "Too Much Ironing"
  • cashmere jacket with "Expensive Jacket" embroidered across the back
Instead of taking offense at these parodies of materialism, people loved them.

Though Moschino died of a heart attack at age 44 in 1994, his collaborator Rossella Jardini has carried on. She has toned down the zany humor, but maintained the exquisite quality of fabrics and workmanship that has always distinguished Moschino.

Today, Frances Heffernan carries both women’s labels: Moschino and Moschino Cheap & Chic. Plenty of people you know wear Moschino, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Alicia Silverstone, Anna Friel and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. But we’d like to see more of our friends like you wear it.
