Dear Friends,
Is it just me, or did this seem like the summer that never arrived? No matter. It's on to my favorite season, FALL. Fall means kids going back to school, the beginning of a new season of Damages, Mad Men and Grey's Anatomy, it means harvest moons, bike
rides in the forest preserve, fabulous colors on the trees and bushes. And, speaking of colors, the colors of the season are subtle and soft this year. Wait 'til you see the
gorgeous shades of tans, golden-browns, red and brick shades. And the fabrics – everything from leather to satin!
Maggie and I have just returned from New York where we could feel the excitement coming back to the showrooms. On a trip last year, we spotted some jewelry that looked like it had been hand-crafted centuries — millennia — ago. This fall, we'll introduce you to the works of wearable art from Yossi Harari. Be sure to read about him later in this newsletter and come in and see the pieces for yourself! Simply exquisite!
So, welcome, autumn. We're happy to see you. And we'll be happy to see you in Frances Heffernan and Frannie very soon.
We appreciate your business,

Fall 2009 Must Haves
Autumn is the season to add just the right fashion piece to your wardrobe—a new color, a new shape, a new
fabric, a new detail. This year fabric becomes an
important statement as new constructions, weights, and mixes give every item a trend-right look.

BRICK, RUST, PERSIMMON
—the fashion colors of the season. Blending with all the marvelous browns, brick works in an accent piece as well as an exciting print.
Our brushed wool flannel jacket sports its own real leather belt with leather trimmed cuffs.
This yummy tomato bisque cashmere coat has the current rounded shaped shoulder and full easy back for comfort
and style.
More pattern in this year’s fashionable brick color. A great blazer to wear with everything, this tweeded plaid jacket looks great
layered over a simple
v-neck cardigan.

NEWS IN CARDIGANS
Cardigans remain the most popular outer layering piece of the season. This one great piece will totally update your wardrobe!
Our fine gauge cashmere cardigan is simplistic in design, but powerful
in style—a long 3/4 length, it can be wrapped and belted or worn, as shown here, meeting in the front for the trend-right cascade look.
Stretch boiled wool...what could be more comfy and forgiving? Our long 7/8 length casual cardigan coat is complete with a hood and toggle closures with
leather tabs.
Cocoon shapes and flyaway cascades are the look of more of our new cardigans. Our plum version just grazes the hip and features a soft cascade front lapel with deep rib edging.

EVERYONE LOVES LACE
And this season lace makes these outerwear pieces irresistible! Meant to be worn during the day, these coats take on a whole new life and sophistication. Choose this coat made from felted winter lace, a woven fabric rich with texture and pattern. Add to it a real leather belt and leather placed under the large
portrait collar to give it just the right shape.
For a sportier style, take a close look at this lace and you'll see it's underneath
a sheer illusion overlay. It's the perfect dressier parka to wear over jeans
or trousers.

COAT PARADE
This is the season to buy the coat you dream of, in the newest fabrics, shapes, and attitude. You'll happily lose yourself in our black allover pleat big coat. The huge funnel collar envelopes and protects you, the belt makes you look stylish, and the feather weight material creates lighter-than-air warmth.
Zips are a big detail and this exposed front zip
highlights the textured allover tucked fabric. Long
and lean, the simplicity of this coat has huge appeal for everyone.
The elegance of majestic purple comes through in this season’s dressier coat. Made of an opaque and sheer wool basket weave, this stunning wrap coat is finished with a satin lining and belt.

LEATHER FOREVER
A given for the season, our leather and suede jackets have built in attitude and durability. Take this vest from Frannie with oversize collar and lapels. Meant for the young and stylish at heart, it's the new take on a double breasted pea coat.
Leather and knit mixes are the popular way to go. Our black napa leather zip jacket is pieced with knitted sleeve and rib inset back to give shape and dimension.
Warm chestnut leather gets enhanced with a real fur collar and great stitch lines for just enough shape and fit. Also key is the side view where the bottom hem angles lower to the front for that important
asymmetric line.
The softest glove leather is in our simple but chic taupe 3/4 length jacket with self belt. The closed placket front provides ultra clean lines and lets the large portrait collar do the fashion work.

with Yossi Harari
This gifted artist is truly a product of his upbringing. Born in Israel and raised in both Israel and Turkey, Yossi Harari grew up surrounded by beautiful objects and ancient
artifacts that inspired him from an early age. When he
was eleven, Yossi designed his first piece of jewelry...he re-designed a diamond ring for his mother. This
creative endeavor set him on a course from which he
has never wavered. He went on to receive formal
training and degrees in Gemology and Jewelry Design from The Gemological Institute of America in Los Angeles and in History of Arts from Tel Aviv University. In 1992, Yossi opened his atelier in Istanbul, where his works are still being created. Yossi's designs, crafted from a variety of metals, are inspired by the spectacular influences of the region from which he comes.
We discovered Yossi last year in a showroom on one of our trips. We knew we had to bring him to you. He is exclusive to Frances Heffernan here on the North Shore. You simply must see his work which is all handcrafted, most in 24k gold, using 2000 year old techniques. Come and discover Yossi for yourself. Watch for the Trunk Show October 9 & 10.
