Dear Friends,
We've just returned from our Paris buying trip and judging from the buzz in The City of Love, you are going to love what's in store for you.
How exciting to think that spring is really almost here...and bringing with it fresh colors, sumptuous fabrics, and ravishing new looks to add to our wardrobes.
This past year we've also added tantalizing new ideas for you in shoes, bags, scarves, evening wear and jewelry to help complete your look. And we do our
best to keep you informed about important Trunk Shows, sales and other events in the store. But, here's where you can help...
Most of our customers say they like to be kept informed through postcards and emails. And as much we love to send everyone this beautiful newsletter,
we only send three a year... but there is so much happening in between newsletters that we need to share with you. To fill in the communication gap,
in December we started a Savvy Shoppers Club to reward our customers who let us contact them by email. If we have your email address, consider yourself part of
the club. If we don't have your email, please fill out the slip at checkout the next time you stop by the store and we'll enter you in a sweepstakes drawing
for $200 worth of Frances Heffernan or Frannie credit. (Ask Dana Kotler about the contest...she was our first winner!)
To make this completely irresistible, our email messages to you will always have news about a show or special offer or a gift for our Savvy Shoppers Club members.
Sign up the next time you're in, and please tell your friends to sign up, too. They'll think you're a peach!
We both appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you in the store,

THE KEY JACKET OF THE SEASON.....THE SPORT ANORAK.
We've worn anoraks before, but none like these. The fabrics are new-from crinkly techno nylon to soft washed silks.
All have sport detail, zip fronts, drawstring tunnels, string ties and pulls. Whether coat length or cropped,
these anoraks all emphasize the face with new contemporary collars, wide and enveloping.

We love the separate jackets worn with the all-important
WIDE LEG PANT. In cotton or linen, career or casual,
these are the season's new pants.

WASHED AND CRINKLED are the textures
that make the difference. Having just gotten back from covering the international textile show in Paris where designers are
buying their fabrics for next spring, we know this is happening. The wash may be very gentle just giving a soft ripple to the
surface or the crinkle permanently heat-set for maximum texture. You'll find this fabric statement in coats, dresses,
separate tops, skirts, and jackets; dressy or casual.

We know YELLOW is the color
of the future, but did you know there were so many brilliant shades to choose from? This fashion color of the season
works as an accent, as an energetic ensemble color, or great pop jacket. Bright sunny yellows are best while cool
lemons and sharp citrons make any basic color pop.

Frannie takes crinkle and really rumples up fine gauge knits and jersies, giving classic stripes and styles
new attitude. These little tops look fresh over easy shorts and our fun cocktail shorts.

DRESSES
lead the way as the fashion look for everyone. There are dresses for each lifestyle, age, and size...shifts, sacks,
trapeze, babydoll, shirtwaist, sheathe.
A must-have this spring is the SOLID BRIGHT COLOR DRESS. Our hot poppy silk chiffon with lots of pleats, smocking, and a satin belt will take you from cocktails to evening. The fluid jersey gathered empire is so sexy in bright chartreuse; and try on our cotton A-line trapeze in hot pink. It's so simple you could wear it all day and to every occasion.

The other dress you must buy is a
PRINT DRESS as we're in a huge print trend cycle. Our two florals here couldn't be more different or more right! The large kaleidoscope print in easy neutrals features feminine pleating around the neck and a self tied bow; while the satiny slip dress in tight mini flowers ends in an alluring and charming ruffle skirt.

Frannie puts her own spin on dresses. We love the ease of cottons that are
shift-y and sack-y, loose and easy. From large appliqué motifs to soft abstract prints, these dresses have plenty of feminine detail with tucking, pleating, gathering, and shirring.

Frannie also features dresses that are short and can also be worn as a jumper or tunic over jeans. For spring, layer them over a T, then in summer, wear them on their own as slip and sun dresses.

The biggest print direction for spring is
artisan or HAND-PAINTED PRINTS. As if done in a painter's studio with a painter's brush, or an abstract motif sprayed on, all the splatters, strokes, and dabs are soft edged and irregular. This print direction replaces all the stiff,
tight, set geometrics of last year.

As we said before, METALLICS have become a way of life, and they continue to be used in every item from footwear and bags to screen print T's, casual knits, and career suitings. This year, metallic is newest when woven into the fabric or knit into the knit creating an all-over sparkle and glint when the light catches the metal threads. Our metallics are spectacular and great as separate items: whether it's the pewter metallic lace pattern jacket, silverized linen 4-pocket safari shirt, or a wide set kimono sleeve coat.

With Neil Bieff
An American designer who listens to what women want? Can it be true?
Indeed, Manhattan-based evening wear designer, Neil Bieff, recently visited us and did what he does so well. He showed his new creations and he listened. Not one to sit in an "Ivory Tower" and dream up designs, Neil spends valuable time in conversation with women at Trunk Shows around the country. He knows what women want - stunning fabrics, perfect fit, flattering lines, and a unique look.
Not surprisingly, Neil is a fashion designer who trained as a painter in Florence, Italy. His eye and his technical expertise combine to give his work a purity of line and cut which flatter the woman who wears Neil Bieff dresses and gowns. How does
he describe himself? This fashion "painter" says, "I think I'm a modernist...designing clothes that say today and tomorrow, timeless, nothing retro, nothing rehash." We say, "Bravo, Neil!"
